AUR (Alliance for the Union of Romanians) deputies on Wednesday submitted a simple motion of censure against the minister of interior, Catalin Predoiu.
Deputy Dan Tanasa told the plenary session of the Chamber of Deputies that the political party submitted the simple motion "From democracy to hybrid regime. Romania under the yoke of the political police set up by Minister Predoiu," which holds over 50 signatures from parliamentarians.
"These days we are experiencing a real Stalinist persecution against all those who do not applaud PSD (Social Democratic Party), PNL (National Liberal Party), USR (Save Romania Union) and UDMR (Democratic Union of Hungarians of Romania). After you removed opponents from the presidential elections, after you canceled elections, now you have also left us without visas to the United States of America and you continue with the Stalinist persecution against those who do not applaud you, an issue that we cannot agree with and which is incompatible with any democratic regime. At this moment, you have put us alongside Papua New Guinea in terms of democracy in Romania, you, pro-European parties," Tanasa argued.
