The Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) says that the National Liberal Party (PNL), Social Democratic Party (PSD), the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR) and Save Romania Union (USR) are practicing a "demagogic" speech when they say that they want to facilitate the right to vote for Romanians abroad, given that a draft initiated by AUR in this sense received a negative opinion in the select committee within the Chamber of Deputies.
"AUR is pointing out that PNL, PSD, UDMR and USR turned down the legislative proposal of AUR regarding free access to exercising the right to vote for all Romanian citizens abroad, based on any sort of identification. The proposal created the premises of establishing several voting sections abroad. This happened during Tuesday's session in the Chamber of Deputies of the committee for Romanian communities living abroad. (...) The negative opinion confirms once again that all parliamentary parties, with the exception of AUR, are practicing a demagogic speech when they say that they want to facilitate the right to vote for Romanians in diaspora and the historic communities. Moreso, it represents a slap to the face of all Romanians living abroad, who, during the last elections, did not vote the way the system wanted, but according to their own conscience," according to a press release sent by AUR to AGERPRES on Wednesday, Agerpres.ro informs.
In this context, AUR is "making one last appeal towards PNL, PSD, UDMR and USR to reconsider their attitude regarding Romanians abroad and to vote its legislative proposal in the plenum of the Chamber of Deputies.
