Acting Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan announced on Thursday that the Government has approved the "Diaspora Invests at Home" programwhich has a budget of 100 million euros and will be implemented by the Investment and Development Bank.
"Another item on the agenda concerned the approval of the 'Diaspora Invests at Home' program and mandating the Investment and Development Bank to support this project. It is aimed at Romanians in the diaspora who wish to set up businesses in Romania. The program has a budget of 100 million euros and stems from Ordinance No. 8, which was approved this spring," said Bolojan at Victoria Palace.
He added that the Investment and Development Bank will implement this aid scheme based on an agreement to be signed with the Ministry of Finance within the next 30 days.
"Romanian citizens who have resided or lived abroad within the last nine months will have access to a loan of up to 200,000 euros, with 60% of the total loan amount taking the form of a grant. This means the funds can be used to facilitate the economic reintegration of Romanians from the diaspora by increasing access to financing for newly established businesses and leveraging the experience they gained abroad; a key condition is that any acquired assets must be retained for at least three years following the date the investment becomes operational," the interim prime minister stated.
