Starting with the 2024-2025 academic year, the Faculty of Law of the Western University of Timisoara (UVT) will offer, in the framework of a partnership with British Law Centre a one-year study programme in English law - Diploma in English Law and Legal Skills.
"BLC was founded in 1992 by the University of Cambridge together with the University of Warsaw, today it is led by Juris Angliae Scientia (YES), an educational foundation based at the University of Cambridge Law School. The current Academic Director of the programme is Professor Richard Fentiman (Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Cambridge). BLC is the organizer of the prestigious international pleading competition Central and East European Moot competition (CEEMC)," UVT reported on Tuesday in a press statement.
There are 19 BLC locations in Central and Eastern Europe, and the programme is now recognised by leading employers and universities in Central and Eastern Europe as an excellent form of training for students and young legal professionals interested in an international career, in European institutions, in the firm of top law, in research or in entrepreneurship.
The diploma is designed to provide a theoretical introduction to English law and skills in legal management, negotiation, legal writing and advocacy. Subjects will be taught by a team of experienced UK-based teachers and practitioners through online courses and written materials (accessible to learners throughout the degree) and face-to-face seminars. The programme will include a series of eight interactive meetings of four hours each, held at the Faculty of Law in Timisoara between November 2024 and June 2025.
The diploma entails over 100 hours of recorded courses (available through a specially dedicated platform) that will cover fundamental aspects of English law: contract law, torts, equity and trusts law, history of English law; eight four-hours of face-to-face seminars; voluntary workshops, live lectures, skills development sessions, etc.
Participation fee is EUR 725 for students, masters, PhD students and trainee lawyers, and EUR 950 for professionals.
Early-bird discounts (until June 30, 2024) EUR 625 for students, masters, PhD students and trainee lawyers, and EUR 850 for professionals.
The Faculty of Law in Timisoara does not charge a separate fee for participating or organising the programme.
