The Bucharest Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIB) has opened a Representative Office in London, and is set to open such business liaison entities in Calgary (Canada) and Chicago (US) by the end of this year, the institution announced on Tuesday in a release.

The event was attended by Romania's ambassador to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Laura Popescu, President of the Bucharest Chamber of Commerce and Industry Iuliu Stocklosa, Vice President of the Bucharest Chamber of Commerce and Industry Octavian Stocklosa, and Chairman of the CCIB Board of Directors' Chamber Policies Section Catalin Grigorescu.

The CCIB Representative Office in London will ensure the representation of the institution in relations with central and local authorities in the United Kingdom, with national and international governmental organizations, local chambers of commerce, institutions relevant to the economic environment, as well as with the British business community, "facilitating communication, collaboration and joint initiatives aimed at strengthening the economic presence of Bucharest and Romania on the British market."

In remarks at the opening of the event, ambassador Laura Popescu welcomed the CCIB initiative to open this new Representative Office.

"Our goal is to provide entrepreneurs with both the tools and the connections needed to expand across borders. We believe that challenges of this type should motivate us to strengthen cooperation and build bridges, not barriers. In this spirit and in order to facilitate access to international partnerships, we have opened CCIB Representative Offices in Brussels, today in London, and by the end of this year we will inaugurate such liaison entities in Calgary (Canada), and Chicago (the US). In 2026 we intend to open offices in Japan and the People's Republic of China, which represent very important steps, both for us and for the business environment in these countries," said the President of the Bucharest Chamber Iuliu Stocklosa.

He stressed that the mission of this office is to promote the interests of the business environment in Bucharest and to create the necessary premises for the development of bilateral economic cooperation, by supporting Romanian companies in the internationalization process, attracting investments and identifying new opportunities on foreign markets.

"We cannot attract significant investments without quality networking and without the country's key advantages being broadly known. Although it is no longer part of the European Union, London remains one of the major financial centers in the world, where both investment companies and large operators in the hyperscale data center sector are headquartered. It is a key market for positioning Romania in the global investment flow," said Liviu Manole, the newly appointed head of the CCIB Representative Office in London.

In his turn, Bogdan Mihailescu, Romania's Economic Attaché to London, mentioned that Romanian-British relations are at an all-time high as a result of the significant contribution of the Romanian community to the UK economy, and of the over 3,000 British companies active in Romania.

"We can attract significant investments not only in IT, retail and manufacturing, but also in data centers, wind and photovoltaic parks. Romania has all the assets - skilled workforce, favorable legislation and an open business environment," emphasized Bogdan Mihailescu.

By expanding its foreign representation network, CCIB reinforces its role as an active promoter of the internationalization of the business environment and a facilitator of bilateral economic relations. At the same time, CCIB reaffirms its commitment to developing efficient tools for connecting Romanian companies to highly potential foreign markets, the cited source also said.
