Central and local public administration officials, prestigious IT&C company execs, officials of the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) along with ambassadors from Europe, Japan and China are attending today and tomorrow the "Jump to Smart. 1.0. Smart City Romania" conference in Bucharest.

Hosted by the Media Hall of the National Theatre House (TNB), the conference is designed to identify integrated solutions for Romania's smart future in the next decade.

The Jump to Smart 1.0 conference is thought to bridge civilisation, economic and administrative gaps separating Romania from developed countries by a smart quantum leap in technology.

Organised by Romania-smart.ro, the conference focuses on two important sections: smart transportation and energy, and smart administration and financing, to be attended by Romanian decision makers that believe Romania can become one of the smartest countries in Europe.

The organisers have partnered up with the Bucharest City Hall, the Association of Romania's Municipalities and the Association of Romanian Towns and Cities. Opening it will be European Commissioner for Regional Policy Corina Cretu in a videoconference.

Attending the conference will be Romania's Prime Minister Sorin Grindeanu; Bucharest City Mayor Gabriela Firea; Deputy Prime Minister Gratiela Gavrilescu; ministers Alexandru Petrescu and Alexandru Razvan Cuc; mayors Robert Negoita, Ilie Bolojan, Decebal Fagadau, George Scripcaru, Dan Tudorache, Constantin Toma, Cosmin Necula, Gheorghe Falca, Arpad Andras Antal as well as other state officials.

Also in attendance will be Dutch ambassador Stella Ronner-Grubacic, and Brian Field, special advisor on Urban Planning and Development at EIB.

"Jump to Smart 1.0" will be certified "CO2 Neutral," as the first such conference in Romania. In assessing the event's carbon footprint, standard carbon management calculations will be used. Included in the computation will be emissions at the venue - electricity and water consumption, waste generated - along with emissions from transport and logistics for organisers and attendees alike as well as for accommodation establishments and catering services.

SAP Romania, a market leader in business software solutions, is the official partner of the event. Other partners include Groupe Renault, a GOLD partner; ENSURA C@C; Telekom; ENGIE; Mastercard; Expert CO2; Red Point; Ericsson; FNGCIMM; UBER and APERO.
