Bucharest stock market sees RON 7 bn-plus cap gain in the week of Jan 29 - Feb 4

The Bucharest stock market's capital gain last week was in excess of RON 7.09 billion, while the value of stock trades was RON 132.58 million lower compared to the previous week, shows data released by the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB).

The stock market capitalization reached RON 305.23 billion, 2.4 percent up from RON 298.14 billion the previous week.

In the week of January 26 - February 2, stock transactions generated a turnover of RON 477.48 million, almost 22 percent down compared to RON 610.07 million reported a week ago.

The week's best trading day was Tuesday, January 30, that saw the turnover hit RON 183.96 million; the worst day was Wednesday, January 31, with a turnover of RON 25.94 million.

The main index of the Bucharest Stock Exchange - the BET - closed the week at 15,640.73 points.

Just like the week before, Hidroelectrica was the most liquid issuer on BVB's main segment, with transactions of RON 284.24 million and a price increase of 5.87 percent.

The next most traded issuers were OMV Petrom with transactions of RON 54.74 million (+4.91 pct), and Banca Transilvania with RON 22.43 million (+3.45 pct).

The issuers to deliver the most important quotation increases were COMCM Constanta (+98.37 pct), Energopetrol (+14.20 pct), and Aquila Part Prod Com (+7.84 pct).

Conversely, the top three fallers were UCM Resita, which went down 18.92 percent, followed by Socep SA (-8 percent) and the Orsova Shipyard (-6.09 pct).
