Education must be considered a strategic area, as it is the most important component of human society, according to Senate Chairman Calin Popescu-Tariceanu.

"The first day of the new school year is full of excitement, for parents, children and adolescents alike. At this new beginning, I want to tell students to trust in themselves and be convinced that everything they do in their schooling years to come will count a very great deal in their future. I would like to thank teachers, the ones that guide the steps of the younger generations, for the work every year with every new generation of students.

At this time, we must remember and thank them for their role in educating each youth. We have to remember that education is the basis of the development of each society; it is the basis of performance. In a society, there are several priority areas, but, from my point of view, we must consider education a strategic area. Education is the most important component of human society, it is the only way in which man can overcome his condition, which is precisely why it should be given special attention constantly," Tariceanu wrote in a Facebook post.

According to him, the younger generation must be considered the objective of any project that is initiated "at the level of state bodies, at the political level".

"We are under an obligation to secure opportunities to the younger generation and give it confidence that it can develop, build a future in the places where they were born and educated. As well as entailing reasoning, education in the 21st century is also about the soul. We need to train the future generation to be able to cope with all the challenges, to face insecurity, to face the unknown.

In any society, education is fundamental, but we must not neglect the influence of family, traditions and values, and in particular we must not omit the need for a vision, the need to allow people to dream, to lead and to identify the true role that the future generation of Romania should play in society and elsewhere in Europe. I would like to finally wish you a new school year with many successes and achievements, and much strength to teachers, because they have a huge responsibility in preparing the future generation of Romania," said Tariceanu.
