Large infrastructure investment works require a long time for implementation and we are already working to improve the regulatory framework for financing investments in irrigation systems, so as to bring water closer to the farm and the plant, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Adrian Chesnoiu said during the debates on drawing up the National Strategic Plan, organized on Wednesday in videoconference system.
"At the ministry level, we are already working to improve the regulatory framework for financing investments in irrigation systems, so that we can bring water closer to the farm and plant. We know that investing in large infrastructure requires a long period of time for implementation. That is why it is very important to intervene so that, from the 2023 budget, we can finance the investments that concern both the main infrastructure, the local systems and the drainage infrastructure. Farmers need us to act quickly and efficiently", said Chesnoiu.
According to a press release issued by the relevant ministry, sent on Wednesday, the discussions on irrigation investment interventions were attended by about a hundred people, farmers' associations and federations, as well as experts from the institutions involved in the implementation of the future Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).
During the meeting, the general lines regarding the financing of irrigation systems and infrastructure in National Strategic Plan (PNS) 2023 - 2027 were presented, with non-reimbursable public support in relation to the eligible costs per project at 100%.
Also, regarding the establishment of irrigation systems, a public allocation of 100 million euros is proposed, with a maximum support value of 500,000 euros / beneficiary, and the intensity of the non-reimbursable public support, related to the eligible costs / project, of 65 %.
