Cluj-Napoca mayor Emil Boc signed in Brussels the twinning agreement with the Republic of Moldova's Ialoveni District in a symbolic gesture that stands for the two countries' shared future in the European Union.
"Through this symbolic gesture, we wanted to emphasize once again the fact that our cities are deeply anchored in the European option, in the common future of our countries in the European Union. The agreement was signed together with Mrs. Natalia Eremia, the President of the Ialoveni District, and outlines the directions of cooperation between our communities for sustainable development, based on the democratic, European values that unite us," Boc wrote on Facebook on Thursday.
According to him, the agreement envisages exchanges of experience and best practices, specifically the promotion of economic and social development projects in multiple fields: public administration, local development, city management, infrastructure, urban transport, social services, environmental protection, education, technology, youth, culture and tourism.
"Cluj has stood by and further stands by our brothers in the Republic of Moldova. Our community has a history of excellent collaboration with various communities across the Prut, being also twinned with the cities of Ungheni and Cahul. We are determined to strengthen these cooperative relations and to continue supporting Moldova's European path," the mayor of Cluj-Napoca said.
