The National Coalition for the Modernization of Romania (CNMR) requests that Kelemen Hunor be stripped of the National Order of the Star of Romania - the highest decoration the state grants a Romanian citizen - for "serious damages" brought to our country, reads a press release of CNMR sent on Tuesday to Agerpres. "Otherwise, CNMR will request through the court the withdrawal of the National Order of the Star of Romania, as several members of CNMR, including Constantin Degeratu and Costin Georgescu, tried and succeeded in Laszlo Tokes' case," reads the release.
CNMR believes that this decoration should only be granted to those Romanians who recognize and appreciate the history and the country, proving unconditional loyalty to the Romanian state. According to CNMR, "the latest statements of the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR) Chairman show an attitude of non-recognition of the Romanian state, disdain for Romanians' history, culture and fundamental rights." "Kelemen Hunor ousts himself from the Romanian citizens' ranks by saying: "... Romanians must understand...", culminating with attacks on the fundamental backbone of the Romanian people: its history, culture, etc.," CNMR further says.
