The National Meteorological Administration (ANM) issued, on Saturday, two Code Orange and Code Yellow warnings of temporarily heightened atmospheric instability, valid until Sunday morning in four counties in the southwest of the country and, respectively, in 17 counties in the west, center, and north and south.
According to meteorologists, between July 20, 3:00 p.m. and July 21, 3:00 a.m., there will be a Code Orange of temporarily heightened atmospheric instability and significant amounts of water in southern Banat, northwestern Oltenia and southwestern Transylvania. In these areas, there will be periods of torrential downpours, intensification of the wind and, in limited areas, gales (gusts of 70 - 90 km/h), hail and electrical discharges. In short time intervals (1 - 3 hours) or through accumulation, the water quantities will be 25 - 40 l/m2 and in small areas more than 50 - 70 l/m2.
The counties warned with Code Orange are Caras-Severin, Hunedoara, Gorj and Mehedinti.
Also, between July 20, 1:00 p.m. and July 21, 10:00 a.m., there will gradually be periods of atmospheric instability in Banat, southern Crisana, Oltenia, Transylvania and locally in Maramures and Muntenia. This will be manifested by torrential showers, intensification of the wind and, in limited areas, gales (gusts of 50 - 70 km/h), hail and electrical discharges. In short intervals of time or through accumulation, the water quantities will be 20 - 25 l/m2 and, isolated, over 40 l/m2.
The Code Yellow will affect the following counties: Timis, Arad, Maramures, Bistrita-Nasaud, Mures, Cluj, Alba, Sibiu, Harghita, Covasna, Brasov, Valcea, Arges, Dambovita, Prahova, Olt and Dolj.
