European Commissioner for Regional Development Corina Cretu declared on Friday, in Cluj-Napoca, that she hopes for the construction works of the three regional emergency hospitals to kick off by the end of next year.
"There were delays and I will never shy away from warning member states when there are delays, as regards the infrastructure for important investments, but, now, the European Investment Bank (BEI) has carried out the feasibility studies for the hospitals in Cluj and Iasi, followed by Craiova. The projects will arrive at the European Commission by this year's end, we hope to approve them as quickly as possible. After that the tenders will begin, and my hope is that by the end of 2019, the actual construction will begin. The money can be spent until 2023. It's sad that they were signed in July 2015 and it was provided for that the feasibility studies be conducted by 2016; it's 2018 and they are not ready. We hope that the building phase will move faster than the drafting of the documentation," Corina Cretu said.
European Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development Phil Hogan, and European Commissioner for Regional Policy Corina Cretu participated on Friday in a dialogue with the citizens, titled "A modern budget for a stronger Union", organized by the Faculty of European Studies at the Babes-Bolyai University. Attending the talks were, among others, the Minister of Agriculture, Petre Daea, and MEP Daniel Buda.
