Competition Council verifies takeover of three energy companies by Energy Distribution Service

The Competition Council is verifying the transaction through which Energy Distribution Services intends to take over Ground Investment Corp, Elektra Wind Power and Elektra Green Power, the authority informs on Friday.

Energy Distribution Services, Ground Investment Corp, Elektra Wind Power and Elektra Green Power operate on the markets for the production and sale of electricity, respectively green certificates, at a national level, agerpres reports.

Ground Investment Corp owns and operates the CEE Babadag 3 power plant, which was put into operation in 2016.

Elektra Wind Power owns and operates the CEE Tortomanu 3 power plant, which was put into operation in 2012, and Elektra Green Power owns and operates the CEE Tortomanu 2 power plant, which was put into operation in 2011.

"According to the provisions of the Competition Law (no. 21/1996), this transaction must be authorised by the Competition Council, which will assess it in order to establish its compatibility with a normal competitive environment and will issue a decision within the deadlines provided by law," the competition authority said in a statement.
