The National Women's Entrepreneurship Confederation (CONAF) is the first employers' organisation invited to the prestigious European Wachau Forum, through the Embassy of Romania in the Republic of Austria, according to a press release sent to AGERPRES on Monday.

The event will take place between June 2024 20 and 22 at the Gottweig Abbey and Krems Campus.

"Improving gender equality could generate around 10.5 million additional jobs in the EU and contribute to an increase in European GDP of up to 3.15 trillion euros by 2050. The reality is indisputable: although women make up almost half of the EU workforce (46.3%), their representation in leadership roles remains low (35.3%) and the percentage of female entrepreneurs is even lower (only 31%). This major discrepancy is not just a gender problem and by no means a competition of merits between men and women; it is a vast untapped potential for European economic growth," said CONAF president Cristina Chiriac, quoted in the press release.

The CONAF delegation's manifesto in Wachau will be "We Mean It: Empowering Women, Together We Can Shape the Future of Europe for a Better Tomorrow", and participation in this forum is a unique opportunity to promote the values and achievements of Romanian women entrepreneurship on the European scene, to establish strategic partnerships and to contribute to shaping the future of Europe.

An important event within the forum is the Danube Salon organised together with the IDM - Institute for the Danube Region and Central Europe and the Vienna Economic Forum (VEF) on the cruise ship MS Durnstein, which will set sail on June 21 for the Wachau region, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

During the Danube Salon, Romania will be represented by a stand dedicated to the promotion of Romanian tourism, culture and gastronomy organised by the Romanian Cultural Institute in Vienna, in partnership with the Romanian Embassy in the Republic of Austria. The event promotes the Romanian heritage in the context of the celebration of the International Day of the Romanian folk blouse 'Ie', through an exhibition dedicated to this important landmark of national identity. The entrepreneurs of the CONAF delegation will wear authentic Romnian folk blouses, some of them decades old, symbolising the richness and diversity of Romanian cultural heritage.
