Criminal case concerning acts of violence against 169 gendarmes at 10 August protest

The prosecutors with the Prosecutors' Office attached to the Bucharest District 1 Court are working on a criminal case opened after the protest of 10 August, in which they are conducting investigations on acts of physical and moral violence having been exercised against 169 gendarmes. 

"Prosecutors with the Prosecutors' Office attached to the Bucharest District 1 Court are carrying out investigations in a criminal case, generically titled 'the Diaspora Protest', established as 78 referrals have been put together. Investigations concern the acts of physical and moral violence exercised against 169 injured people who had the quality of Gendarmerie force and carried out activities on the occasion of the protest in Victoriei Square on 10/11 August 2018," a press release of the Prosecutors' Office attached to the Bucharest District 1 Court informs. 

The Prosecutors' Office specifies that it disposed that the carrying out of the activities be delegated to the police forces with the General Directorate of Bucharest Police - the Directorate for Criminal Investigations, the Directorate for Violent Criminal Groups, the Homicide Department and the District 1 Criminal Investigations Service. 

Separately, the Military Prosecutors' Office is conducting investigations in another case, in which as many as 770 complaints were filed by people who suffered following the intervention of the gendarmes in the 10 August protest.
