Romania's Supreme Council for National Defence (CSAT) started on Tuesday at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace.

On the agenda of the sitting chaired by President Klaus Iohannis there are included topics regarding the endowment plan of Romania's Army for 2019-2028, the CSAT activity programme for 2019, Romania's Armed Forces' plan of use that are to be deployed in missions and operations outside the Romanian state territory in 2019, as well as the National Priority Information Plan for 2019.

"Within the sitting of the Council also analised will be other topical issues of the national security area," a release issued last week by the Presidential Administration informed.

Last week also, National Defence Minister Gabriel Les stated, after his hearing in the Senate's special committee, that it's possible for the CSAT sitting to include a briefing regarding the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. "It's very possible that a briefing on this topic be necessary in the CSAT sitting," he stated.

The last Supreme Council for National Defence sitting was held on 4 September.
