Custom authorities of Romania and the Republic of Moldova are supporting each other in order to facilitate border crossing by Ukrainian refugees and humanitarian aid for Ukraine, according to a press release sent by the Romanian Customs Authority.
"In the context generated by the armed conflict in Ukraine, of the need to efficiently manage traffic, which keeps increasing, by Ukrainian refugees that are registered at Romania's entry point and humanitarian aid for Ukraine, Bogdan-Lari Mihei, the chairman of the Romanian Customs Authority, has carried out, during March 2 and 3 of 2022, work visits to the customs office at the shared border of Romania with the Republic of Moldova. On this occasion, identifying the need of material and human resources were taken into consideration, as well as organizational measures necessary of fulfilling duties established within the customs authority and also ensuring an operative communication at an institutional level with other state authorities as well," the press release mentions.
For establishing measures of traffic fluidity through the border crossing points situated at the common border between Romania and the Republic of Moldova, the chairman of the Romanian Customs Authority had talks with Igor Talmazan, Director of the Customs Service of the Republic of Moldova, but also ad-hoc meetings, ad the Border Office on the Radauti-Prut border (RO), Lipcani Border Point (MD), with Nicolae Mazanca, the acting head of the Nord Customs Office and the Sculeni Border Office (RO), Sculeni Customs Office (MD), with Andrei Cravtov and Nicolae Mandrescu, head and deputy head of the Sculeni Customs Point.
Bogdan-Lari Mihei, the chairman of the Romanian Customs Authority and Igor Talmazan, Director of the Customs Service of the Republic of Moldova, have agreed to organize a joint meeting in the following period.
