The Caribbean markets are a region with significant potential for Romanian entrepreneurs active in tourism, infrastructure investment, food industry and agricultural processing, fisheries and aquaculture, according to the president of the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIR), Mihai Daraban.
According to a press release sent to AGERPRES on Thursday, CCIR hosted on April 3 a high-level meeting between its president, Mihai Daraban, and the Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Ralph Gonsalves, who is on an official visit to Romania.
"Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves is one of the longest-serving and most influential political leaders in the Caribbean region, a position from which he has established himself as an emblematic figure for the entire Latin American and Caribbean community," the press release said.
The CCIR president emphasized that "today's meeting opens new opportunities for the Romanian business environment".
"St. Vincent and the Grenadines is a strategic gateway to the Caribbean markets, a region with significant potential for Romanian entrepreneurs active in tourism, infrastructure investments, food industry and processing of agricultural products, fisheries and aquaculture. In this context, the prime minister's invitation addressed to the Romanian business environment to establish in the future a commercial operational base in this country, which will facilitate the access of Romanian companies to the entire Caribbean market, becomes very important," Mihai Daraban mentioned.
In his turn, Ralph Gonsalves emphasized that "over 95% of the products consumed locally are imported, which means that there is considerable potential for Romanian companies to enter this market".
"At the national level, we aim to develop the country's infrastructure and, at the same time, to build economic and diplomatic relations with partners around the world, but especially with Eastern European countries that are part of the European Union, such as Romania," said Ralph Gonsalves.
