Defence Minister Ionut Mosteanu and Chief of Defence Staff, General Gheorghita Vlad, met at the Defence Ministry headquarters on Tuesday Admiral Pierre Vandier, Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (SACT), who is paying a visit to Romania.
According to a National Defence Ministry (MApN) press release, the meeting, held in the context of the NATO-Industry Forum 2025 organised in Bucharest on 5 and 6 November, highlights Romania's strategic importance in strengthening NATO's deterrence and defence posture on the Eastern Flank.
The discussions focused on the importance of innovation and digital transformation in the context of new security and defence challenges.
'Innovation and digital transformation are engines of progress, and it is important to identify ways in which we can collaborate to develop creative solutions and innovative technologies adapted to modern warfare. We reaffirmed our readiness to remain a reliable partner in future development projects and to actively support the testing and implementation of ongoing initiatives,' said Minister Mosteanu.
In his remarks, the Chief of Defence Staff underlined that 'digital transformation, multi-domain operations and the integration of emerging technologies remain constant priorities pursued both across the entire force structure and within the allied framework. At the same time, efforts must continue in the interoperability area, through practical measures adapted to current security parameters, to ensure the implementation of NATO standards and procedures.'
The Allied Command Transformation (ACT) is one of NATO's two strategic commands and plays a key role in ensuring the Alliance's ability to adapt and develop its capabilities, promoting innovation, interoperability and excellence in training.
