Minister of Health Alexandru Rafila confirmed that, similar to other European states, an increasing trend of COVID-19 cases is being recorded in the country, without any cause for concern, most of the cases being mild forms, told Agerpres.
"If you look at the number of cases, there is a certain upward trend. And today there were about 700 cases nationwide. We cannot talk about a concern, especially since there is no impact on hospitalized cases. If this impact increases and most forms are mild, for which home isolation is sufficient, we have no cause for concern. For the circulating strains, including the new variants that have been identified in Europe (...) there is no sign that these cases are more serious or that they pose special problems compared to the strains that have circulated so far," said Rafila, on Tuesday, at the palace of Parliament.
Rafila recommended COVID immunization with the new vaccine for people with chronic diseases and for those over 65 years old.
"At the moment, both the ministry and the Institute of Public Health are conducting a campaign so that everyone has the correct information and makes a responsible decision, as everyone sees fit to protect their health," added Rafila.
He mentioned that from previous orders there are still about 6 million doses of expired vaccine left in warehouses.
