The temporary exhibition "Historical reconstructions in miniature," which comprises cinematographic models and photographs of them that portray reconstructions from the period of the Second World War on the territory of Ukraine, will open on Wednesday, starting 16:00 hrs, at the National Museum of History of Romania (MNIR).
According to the Facebook page of the MNIR, the exhibit proposes to bring to attention military history, in three dimensions, in perspective scale and photographic format, respecting with accuracy the architecture of the urban and rural environments where fighting took place.
"The magic of models is passed through the filter of artistic compositions and cinematographic frames, inviting the public to the 'little film set of history', where miniatures transpose us in time and space. These were done with the aid of scenographic film techniques, such as: urban and rural architecture, the objects, the lights, the uniforms and the machines of the war theater," MNIR mentions.
The exhibition includes a series of photographs, done in such a way as to offer visitors the occasion to experiment real cinematographic effects, and two reproductions, in miniature, of conflicts that took place on the territory of Ukraine in 1943, the artistic concept, started only a few years ago, constituting itself into a veritable "premonition" to the terrible events happening presently, Agerpres.ro informs.
Curated by Cornel Ilie, deputy director of the National Museum of History of Romania, and professor Cosmin Petru Paulescu, Ph.D., of the University of Arts in Bucharest, the exhibition is the result of the collaboration between Andrei Menteanu, scenographer and doctoral student at the National University of Arts in Bucharest, and the museum.
The exhibition will run for one month, up to May 13.
