The District 5 City Hall is allocating 6 million lei to cover the needs of the people affected by the explosion in the Rahova neighborhood, after the Local Council adopted a decision in this regard within Friday's meeting.
The draft, which establishes a reserve fund at the disposal of local authorities worth 6 million lei, to be used for covering the needs of those affected by the blast, was approved with 25 votes in favour, the local authorities announced Friday on Facebook.
District 5 Mayor Vlad Popescu Piedone will remain at the Command Centre set up inside the "Dimitrie Bolintineanu" High School over the next few hours, to support residents from the Vicina Street No.1 and to work closely with the competent authorities.
The Directorate General of Social Assistance and Child Protection (DGASPC) District 5, Local Police District 5 and the Directorate General for Persons Records District 5, together with the General Directorate of Social Assistance of the Municipality of Bucharest (DGASMB), are providing assistance to those affected, including transport to the accommodation locations designated by the DGASMB, securing the affected area, psychological counseling services and issuing temporary documents. At the same time, the local authority is supporting the donation collection effort at the Fabrica de Chibrituri Street No.9-11, District 5.
People affected by the explosion at the block on the Vicina Street can go to the Command Centre set up inside the "Dimitrie Bolintineanu" High School to receive guidance from the authorities.
The Department for Emergency Situations (DSU) will also collect water samples from homes in the affected area to check for possible contamination. The District 5 City Hall is urging residents to cooperate with the authorities and allow them access.
