DNA: Former heads of Bucharest Police sent to trial for abuse of office

Ion Tincu, who was heading the General Department of the Bucharest Police back when the offence was committed, alongside other four heads of services of this institution, on Wednesday were sent to trial by the prosecutors of the National Anti-corruption Directorate (DNA) for committing abuse of office.

DNA's prosecutors - Section for Corruption-related Offences sent Ion Tincu, back when the offence was committed head of the General Department of the Bucharest Police with the Bucharest City Hall, to trial, for abuse of office, for allegedly obtaining for himself or another such undue benefits, informs a release of the DNA on Wednesday sent to Agerpres.

Also sent to trial in the same file were Mihaela Carnaru, back when the offence was committed head of the Financial Budget Service with the General Department of Local Police and Control, Gabriel Florin Andrei, back when the offence was committed head of the Investments Acquisitions Service with the General Department of Local Police and Control, all of them over abuse of office, for allegedly obtaining for themselves or other such undue benefits, in repeated form.

The anti-corruption prosecutors claimed in the indictment submitted to the judges that, over 2010-2011, Ion Tincu, Mihaela Carnaru, Gabriel Andrei, Carmen Barbu and Camelia Ionescu, in their capacities mentioned above, by the faulty manner in which they carried out their duties (related to the coordination of the activities of the Local Police, the verification into the lawfulness of the expenditures covered from the budget of the abovementioned institution, the verification of the lawfulness of the public procurements, the verification of the lawfulness of the concluded agreements and the verification of payments), would have concluded with a company two agreements and an addendum by which they externalized, illegally, such services of patrolling, intervention, identification of contraventions and application of sanctions.

DNA informs that, by the date when the indictment was drafted, the Bucharest City Hall did not communicate if it will become a civil party in the trial. The file was submitted to the Bucharest Court, with the proposals to maintain the precautionary measures ordered in this case.
