The chief prosecutor of the National Anti-corruption Directorate (DNA), Crin Bologa, requests the Chamber of Deputies to approve a computer search in the criminal file prosecuting deputy Daniel Tudorache, former mayor of Bucharest District 1, for illegal and overvalued purchases during the COVID-19 pandemic, told Agerpres.

"In the case publicized in press releases no. 796/VIII/3 of November 19, 2020 and 898/VIII/3 of October 21, 2022, in consideration of the legal and constitutional provisions, DNA chief prosecutor Crin Bologa initiated the necessary procedure for approval, by the Chamber of Deputies, of an IT search in the criminal file regarding Tudorache Daniel, currently a member of the Romanian Parliament, suspected of committing the crime of complicity in abuse of office, if the public official obtained an undue benefit for himself or for another, with particularly serious consequences," reads a DNA press release.

According to DNA, the computer search is an activity provided by the Criminal Procedure Code necessary for the discovery and collection of evidence in the criminal trial, and in the case of members of Parliament, the carrying out of this activity is strictly conditioned by the vote of the plenary session of the Chamber of which the respective parliamentarian is a member.

On October 21, DNA announced that former mayor of District 5 Marian Vanghelie and former mayor of District 1 Daniel Tudorache are being prosecuted in a case regarding illegal and overvalued purchases during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is about overvalued purchases of tablets for students (75,500 pieces), but also products needed during the COVID-19 pandemic, namely biodecontamination nebulizers (1,200 pieces) and thermal scanners (200 pieces).

Daniel Tudorache, currently a Social Democratic Party (PSD) deputy, at the time of the deeds, mayor of Bucharest District 1, is accused of complicity in the abuse of office, if the public official obtained an undue benefit for himself or for another, with particularly serious consequences.
