The president of the National Committee Coordinating COVID Vaccination Activities (CNCAV_, Dr. Valeriu Gheorghita, told a press conference on Friday that there are data suggesting that the Omicron variant would also be transmitted through aerosols, context in which he reiterated his call to comply with the protection measures and vaccination.
He stressed that the countries best protected from a wave of Omicron variants will be those with high vaccination rates, as well as booster doses.
According to him, "the duty is to limit, to delay the spread of this infection."
"It is clear that limiting the spread is done by observing preventative measures - especially wearing masks and avoiding overcrowded areas, ventilating enclosed spaces - this is very important. Moreover, what is important for individual protection, especially if we have risk factors, vaccination is the main method by which we can reduce the risk of developing a serious form," the CNCAV president said.
Gheorghita added that, "the extent to which a next wave of illnesses would come sooner, it is debatable, because all the data are dynamic, but in the other European countries there is an acceleration of the number of cases."
