Romania's long-term performance in increasing innovation and research is negative, having moved on a downward path since 2012, Dutch ambassador to Romania Stella Ronner-Grubacic told a specialist conference on Wednesday.
"From our point of view, Romania is at a crucial juncture in its economic development. It has high economic growth, sound macroeconomic fundamentals, while its IT&C sector can withstand competition from anywhere in the world. And yet, the European Innovation Scoreboard (EIS) shows Romania far from where it could be. EIS provides an assessment of research and innovation performance in every EU member state, identifying its relative strong suits and weaknesses,"said Ronner-Grubacic.
She added that the long-term outlook for research and innovation growth in Romania is negative.
"Unfortunately, there are seven member states, including Romania, where the long-term growth outlook was negative. In fact, Romania's performance has been falling since 2012. That should inspire us all today," added the ambassador. agerpres.
