The newly appointed minister of education and research, Daniel David, sends a message to his colleagues at the "Babes-Bolyai" University (UBB) in Cluj-Napoca, in which he explains that he took over the portfolio of minister to help Euro-Atlantic Romania cope with a "bizarre, isolationist, anti-science approach.", informs Agerpres.
"Dear colleagues, as you already know, I have taken over the portfolio of the Ministry of Education and Research. I did this to help Euro-Atlantic Romania to face a bizarre, isolationist, anti-science and pseudo-religious approach. The situation is so serious that, beyond doubts and dissatisfaction, no one who can contribute anything can refuse to help. And the main antidote to this approach against Euro-Atlantic Romania is represented by education and science (research)," reads a statement sent by UBB on Friday.
Daniel David also says that, as the law requires, he has suspended himself from the position of UBB rector, which will be taken over by university professor Adrian Petrusel, PhD.
"I trust that our university is an already well-established institution, which will not be greatly affected by this situation, and the interim rector is an academic personality (among the top 2% most cited scientists in the world in his field of expertise), with a lot of administrative experience (as a former dean for multiple terms and vice-rector), who will continue the implementation of the 'UBB Q-Optimum' Programme (2024-2029): UBB - World-class European University, an initiative started in March 2024 by the entire rectorate team and assumed by our community. At the end of the ministerial mandate - shorter or longer - I will be honoured to resume the position of acting rector of our University," Daniel David said in his message.
