We have a problem in the way financial sources are secured for the Transition Fund from which payments are made for settlement and I believe that, at the moment, at the two ministries, there are somewhere over three billion lei to be paid, executive director of the Federation of Associations of Energy Utility Companies (ACUE) Dana Daraban told the Energy Forum on Monday.
"We know that in 2024, the allocation process closes on both natural gas and electricity sectors. What happens to the final price? The final price remains capped until March 2025 for domestic and non-household customers. Now we have the following themes: what happens in Q1 of 2025, in the sense that this Ordinance only works with the price decrease scenario. There is no scenario 2, where the price goes up. We only work with the optimistic scenario, that the price decreases. I would very much like it to be written in a Government Ordinance that the price decreases, but sometimes life has shown us the opposite. So we work only with this scenario and then in the situation where the supplier is obliged to keep the ceiling price at the final price to the consumer, it is the state's decision, but then it must provide the necessary funds," said Daraban.
Regarding the fifth period of energy market regulation, which is due to start in 2025, the energy specialist stressed that it must ensure the strategy of developing network investments.
Energy experts and government representatives participated on Monday in the 6th edition of the "Energy Forum," organised by Financial Intelligence publication.
