Energy minister Bogdan Ivan on Thursday stated that 90% of the 227 million euro in penalties that the ministry had in July on milestone 121 of the PNRR (National Recovery and Resilience Plan) were recovered.
Bogdan told this to a press conference, where he was asked whether Romania will lose all the money from the PNRR milestone that refers to the appointment of the management of state-owned companies, considering that this was not achieved at Hidroelectrica, and the deadline expires on Friday, agerpres reports.
"Romania has made a commitment to have procedures for all state-owned companies through which there are people elected according to the European methodology, who have a four-year mandate, so that politicians will no longer decided whom to put in charge of the companies. Romania had to observe this commitment since the second semester of 2022 in terms of energy companies. Currently, Romania has a penalty of 227 million euros on milestone 121, against the Ministry of Energy. In July, immediately after I took office, I started all the procedures with all these companies. (...) At the moment, from the centralised data that I have, but tomorrow I will have the final report, (...) my estimates are that we managed to save approximately 90% of these 227 million euros that were lost in June of this year," explained the minister, in a press conference held at CET Progresul.
