Boulez's work will be performed on modern instruments, while the works by Ravel, Debussy and Enescu will be performed using early 19th-century French instruments.
The choreographic performance 'DinDor'NdoR' by Gigi Caciuleanu, set to music by Dan Dediu, with sets and costumes by designer Viorica Petrovici, will be presented at the Studio Hall of the I. L. Caragiale National Theatre of Bucharest on Tuesday at 19:00.
'Dan Dediu's music inspired me to compose a world' in which bodies (women, men, couples, groups) evolve in a scenographic space designed and created, like the costumes, by Viorica Petrovici. A choreography traversed by the idea that each dancer represents a complex geometry of the body, inscribed in a sort of spatial mathematics (structures, forms and/or symbols), also expressed through a series of metaphorical accessories. It's a piece in which I aim to bring to the stage, using a language that is my own, fragments from an imaginary that lies right here,' somewhere between Earth and Sky, between the pastoral foot of the hill' and mouth of heaven,'' Gigi Caciuleanu confessed, according to the Enescu Festival website.
At the Sibiu State Philharmonic, from 19:00, the Sinfonia Varsovia and the Radio Academic Choir will present works by: Grazyna Bacewicz - Overture, Frédéric Chopin - Piano Concerto No. 1 in E minor, Op. 11, Wojciech Kilar - Krzesany, and George Enescu - Vox Maris, Op. 31.
The concert will be conducted by Marta Gardolinska, with the Radio Academic Choir conducted by Ciprian Tutu. Pianist Rafal Blechacz will be the soloist.
The event is organised by Artexim in collaboration with the Play Cultural Association.
The WDR Symphony Orchestra of Cologne, conducted by Cristian Macelaru, the artistic director of the George Enescu International Festival and Competition, will perform at the Auditorium Maximum Hall in Cluj-Napoca on Tuesday as of 19:00.
The soloist will be violinist Wakana Kimura, winner of the 2024 George Enescu International Competition.
The programme will feature: Romanian Rhapsody No. 2 in D major, Op. 11 by George Enescu, Violin Concerto No. 1, Sz. 36 by Béla Bartók and Symphony No. 2 in E minor, Op. 27 by Sergei Rachmaninoff.
This concert is organised by Artexim in collaboration with the 'Transylvania' State Philharmonic of Cluj-Napoca.
As part of the Academie Lumičres d'Europe, led by violinist David Grimal, the Auditorium Hall of the French Institute in Bucharest will host, from 17:30, the conference: 'Authenticity as Modernism: George Enescu's Singular Path,' presented by philosopher Paul Audi.
The Lumičres d'Europe Academy is a cultural residency project organised under the high patronage of UNESCO, with the support of the French Embassy in Bucharest, the French Institute and Artexim.
