The National Meteorological Administration issued a meteorological information on Saturday of atmospheric instability, mixed precipitation, significant amounts of water, increased wind, severe cooling, frost and ground frost, and two Code Yellow wind warnings, valid in most of the country, Agerpres reports.
According to meteorologists, between April 5, 10:00 AM and April 7, 6:00 PM, in most of the country, there will be precipitation that will be mainly of a downpour nature and will locally accumulate amounts of water of 10 - 20 l/sq m and isolated amounts of 30 - 40 l/sq m.
Saturday will see rain, lightning, storms and isolated hail. From Saturday night to Sunday, the weather will get colder, and the rains will expand and gradually turn into sleet and snow, first in the mountains, then in the lowlands. Especially in the mountainous and sub-mountainous areas, a layer of snow will be deposited, on average 10 - 15 cm.
In most regions, the wind will intensify, with speeds generally of 40 - 50 km/h.
Nights and mornings will become particularly cold, with temperatures mostly below zero. Minimum temperatures will generally range between -7 and 2 degrees. Locally, frost and ground frost will occur.
The National Meteorological Agency warns that the weather will remain particularly cold, with temporary mixed precipitation and increased winds, until the end of next week.
Also, a Code Yellow warning is in force, targeting increased wind, blizzard at altitudes generally above 1,700 m, between April 5, 1:00 PM - April 5, 11:00 PM.
In Banat, Crisana, Maramures, Transylvania, Moldavia, northeastern Wallachia, as well as in the mountains, there will be periods of increased wind and gale force winds, with speeds of 50 - 70 km/h.
At high altitudes, generally above 1,700 m, gusts will be 75 - 85 km/h and there will be temporary blizzards.
According to meteorologists, between April 5, 11:00 PM and April 6, 11:00 PM, a Code Yellow warning is in effect, targeting increased wind, blizzard, and snow cover.
In most of the country there will be periods when the wind will intensify with speeds of 50 - 70 km/h. In the mountains the gusts will be 75 - 85 km/h, and above 1,700 m of 90 - 100 km/h and there will be temporary blizzards.
There will be mixed precipitation in the south of the territory, and elsewhere snowfall will predominate, which will locally and temporarily be sleet.
An average snow layer of 5 - 10 cm will be deposited in southern and eastern Transylvania, western Moldavia and northern Wallachia, and generally 15 - 20 cm in the mountains, especially in the Eastern and Southern Carpathians.
