The National Consumer Protection Authority (ANPC) imposed ten fines, amounting to RON 195,000, on electricity and natural gas companies, during the controls carried out by the institution's Energy Command, ANPC informs in a press release sent to AGERPRES.

"The Energy Command created by the National Consumer Protection Authority (ANPC), under the direct coordination of President Mihai Culeafa and General Manager Paul Anghel, has completed another 22 control actions on electricity and natural gas suppliers to domestic consumers. As such, the ANPC commissioners applied another 10 contravention fines amounting to 195,000 lei, to which was added the measure of recalculation of all bills that do not comply with the provisions of the law," mentions the release.

Among the most important irregularities found by the ANPC commissioners are: the capping and offset scheme of the prices were not applied according to Emergency Ordinance 118 / 2021 starting with November 1, 2021; the supply of electricity without a license; non-compliance with the billing deadline and the two month-billing, and the information on the offset scheme of electricity and gas bills sent to customers do not contain the elements that make up the price at which the compensation is applied.

Also, some of the contracts issued did not contain the price of the services in the gas price, only the total price, so that the consumer could not verify the method of calculating the offset scheme granted. At the same time, the ANPC commissioners also found an incorrect commercial practice, given that the successive increases in tariffs were not determined by legislative changes.

According to the cited source, the Energy Command continues its checks until March 31, 2022.

On January 14, ANPC announced that it had imposed fines amounting to RON 450,000 to a number of 27 companies supplying electricity and natural gas, during the controls carried out by the Energy Command of the institution between January 6-13.
