The gross minimum wage could grow to 2,050 lei ahead of 1 January 2019, on Tuesday night said the Finance minister Eugen Teodorovici, in a broadcast at the public television TVR1, specifying that an analysis is under way at the relevant ministry.
"At the latest starting with 1 January 2019 [the gross minimum wage is to grow, ed. n.]. We are having talks at the Public Finance Ministry (MFP). The ministry has to have an analysis done on each possibility (...) We do analyse absolutely everything. And such a scenario...(...) We'll have a talk in the gov't. There are chances. It is a decision to be made after an analysis the MFP is carrying out, we'll talk it in the gov't," Teodorovici told TVR1.
If I said "the latest" it is implicit that it might be earlier. How early? We'll see the calculations, the proposals. An analysis is made at the MFP," he added.
Eugen Teodorovici also said the gov't will know exactly where the sums will come from after the scheduled November budget revision.
Currently, the gross minimum wage is parked at 1,900 lei per month.
