Firefighters continue efforts to extinguish the dry vegetation and forest fire that broke out 10 days ago near the Tulcea County village of Chilia Veche, in the Danube Delta.
"Fire crews are working tirelessly to contain and put out the dry vegetation and forest fire in the Chilia Veche area. Over 40 rescuers, supported by 15 land and water vehicles, are deployed daily to prevent the spread of the flames. From the air, our colleagues from IGAv [the General Inspectorate of Aviation] are operating Black Hawk helicopters to support ground efforts," the IGSU informs on Wednesday.
Additional support is being provided by mixed teams of forestry staff and volunteers from emergency services, focusing on extinguishing isolated hotspots.
"Integrated resource coordination, determination, and solidarity are key in this race against time to effectively protect nature and the local communities," the cited source further shows.
