The first Romanian patient treated abroad after the explosions in Crevedia, Dambovita County on the evening of August 26, at an LPG station, returned safely to the country, on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday.

It is about a 28-year-old firefighter from Bucharest, who received care and treatment at Graz University Hospital, in Austria, the Government informs, agerpres reports.

"Tonight, I welcomed our young fireman back home after medical treatment abroad. I was glad that his health is good and he will be able to return to a normal life in a short time. I thanked him for his courage and because together with his colleagues they intervened to save their fellows and secure the area affected by the powerful explosions. We also have good news about the other two Romanians treated in Austria. They and all our Romanian firefighters and civilians are now being cared for in medical units abroad. We look forward to seeing them at home!" said prime minister Marcel Ciolacu, quoted in a press release sent to AGERPRES.

According to the press release, currently, 11 patients with burns are being treated in medical units outside the country - in Belgium (two patients), in Italy (two patients), in Austria (two patients), in Germany (four patients) and in Norway (one patient), in the conditions in which shortly after the explosions occurred, the European Civil Protection Mechanism was activated for the transfer of people injured in the Crevedia explosions to medical units abroad.

Patients treated in medical units abroad, as well as those treated in Romanian hospitals, can be accompanied by family members. They will receive financial support in order to be with the injured during their hospitalization, according to the decisions established in the Government meeting of August 31, 2023, the release also states.
