Five Romanian crews qualify for Paris 2024 Olympics after World Rowing Championships in Belgrade

Five Romanian crews have qualified for the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games by advancing to finals A at the 2023 World Rowing Championships in Belgrade, told Agerpres.

"An extraordinary day for Romanian crews at the 2023 World Rowing Championships in Belgrade. Today's semi-finals A/B ended with excellent results for Romania. Five Romanian crews qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and six crews advanced to finals A at of the World Championships," the Romanian Rowing Federation (FRC) reportes in a social media post.

The five Romanian crews that qualified for the Paris Olympics are:

Women's Quadruple Sculls (W4x): Emanuela Ciotau, Andrada Morosanu, Cristina Druga and Patricia Cires, finished 3rd in the semi-final and advanced to final A.

Women's Pair (W2-) : Ioana Vrinceanu and Roxana Anghel dominated semi-final A/B race and progressed to final A.

Men's Pair (M2-): Sergiu Bejan and Marius Cozmiuc took 1st place in Thursday's semi-final, thus moving on to final A

Lightweight Women's Double Sculls (LW2x): after a race with an extraordinary finish, Ionela Cozmiuc and Mariana Dumitru finished in 2nd place the semi-final, progressing to final A.

Women's Four (W4-): Madalina Beres, Maria Tivodariu, Amalia Beres and Magdalena Rusu secured a place on final A after they had a very good race in today's semi-final, which they finished in 2nd place.

Also on Thursday, Gianina Beleaga had a very good race in the semi-final of the Lightweight Women's Single Sculls (LW1x). She ranked 3rd and progressed to final A.

The Men's Four (M4-) crew composed of Stefan Berariu, Mihaita Tiganescu, Mugurel Semciuc and Florin Lehaci, finished in 4th place and will compete in final B at the World Championships.

The Men's Quadruple Sculls (M4x) crew composed of Mihai Chiruta, Sebastian Cornea, Ioan Prundeanu and Florian Marian Enache, finished in 4th place the semis and will compete in final B.

Romania has lined up 13 crews composed of 34 athletes for the 2023 World Rowing Championships in Belgrade that count for qualifying for the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris.
