Former President Traian Basescu, upon exiting the polling station, said that voters will determine on Sunday how functional democracy will be in Romania.
"Today is the day when they (citizens) determine how functional democracy will be in Romania. If the result is beyond the vote for the current power and a strong opposition it means that the democratic balance will be maintained in Romania and things will go well," said Basescu.
Asked if it was difficult to vote with five paper ballots, he replied, "I've done much harder things. For example: I went (...) through the fire of my own ship, I went through storms, I went through war zone. What, I'm not going to get tangled up in five paper ballots."
