The meeting focused on the next steps to be taken in implementing the aspects already agreed between the Romanian Foreign Affairs Minister and his Kuwaiti counterpart during their meeting in late September, in New York, on the sidelines of the 73rd session of the General Assembly of the United Nations Organisation.
Minister Teodor Melescanu and ambassador Talal Mansour Alhajeri reviewed the agenda of the future bilateral contacts, on which occasion they highlighted the high level of cooperation existing between Romania and Kuwait at bilateral level and under the umbrella of the international bodies, as well as the two countries' convergent interests.
According to MAE, the minister underscored the Romanian side's interest in strengthening political-diplomatic dialogue with Kuwait, which will lead to a future increase in economic changes and sectoral contacts, to both states' benefit.
The head of diplomacy showed that, during the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union, Romania will pay a special attention to the developments in the Southern Vicinity of the European Union and will plead for strengthening efforts in promoting peace and security in this region.
The two interlocutors reviewed the recent developments at regional and international level, on which occasion Minister Teodor Melescanu reiterated his concern for the stability of the Middle East region. In this respect, he voiced hope that all differences will be solved in the shortest while, through dialogue. Moreover, he hailed the sustained efforts of the Emir of Kuwait in ensuring a climate of good cooperation within the Gulf Cooperation Council, specifies the MAE.
