The minister of Foreign Affairs, Luminita Odobescu, supported, on Monday, in Kyiv, the importance of the continuation of the EU's multidimensional support for Ukraine and highlighted the need to accelerate the steps at the European level to ensure the flexibility and predictability of the EU's military support for Ukraine, including through the creation of a military fund within the European Peace Facility.
Luminita Odobescu participated, on Monday, in the informal meeting of the ministers of Foreign Affairs from the EU member states, the Foreign Affairs Council which took place in Kyiv. The meeting had an extraordinary character, given that it was hosted in a third country, Ukraine. The idea of organizing a Council of Foreign Affairs in Kyiv was initially launched by Romania, since the beginning of 2022, to show the EU's solidarity and support for Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement sent to AGERPRES.
With regard to Ukraine's European course, Luminita Odobescu expressed her support for the adoption, by the end of the year, of the decision to open accession negotiations with Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova and welcomed, in the context, the progress made in Ukraine's implementation of the recommendations European Commission.
Minister Odobescu emphasized the importance of the full implementation of the recommendations of the Venice Commission within the legislation on the protection of the rights of persons belonging to national minorities in Ukraine and reiterated the request of the Romanian side that the Ukrainian authorities record the non-existence of the so-called "Moldovan language".
