President Iohannis at Belgian Nuclear Research Centre SCKCEN, talks with Romanian researchers working there
President Klaus Iohannis visited the Belgian Nuclear Research Centre SCKCEN on Wednesday, where he met with the Romanian researchers working there and contributing to the development of safe nuclear technologies for energy, medical use and the fight against climate change.
"Important visit to the Belgian Nuclear Research Centre SCKCEN, a leader in European nuclear research. Delighted to meet Director General Peter Baeten and the Romanian researchers working here, developing safe nuclear technologies for energy, medical use and combating climate change," Iohannis said in a post on X (ex Twitter).
The head of state will pay an official visit to the Kingdom of Belgium on Wednesday.
In the context of the visit, a Memorandum of Understanding for the development of lead-cooled Small Modular Reactors (SMR-LFR) was signed between the Romanian and Belgian institutions and three other institutions from Italy and the United States.
