The "Fotogeografica 2025" exhibition will open on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the National Library of Romania, according to a press release the organisers sent to Agerpres.
On this occasion, the Fotogeografica 2025 catalogue will also be launched, featuring the award-winning works from the competition's three sections - cultural heritage, natural landscape, and wildlife - across both student and open categories, as well as a selection of the most outstanding entries from the competition gallery.
As part of the event, an immersive projection will be showcased in the Atrium of the National Library - a collaborative audio-visual experience between Fotogeografica and the AMURAL visual arts collective. The projections will offer participants a spectacle of nature, art, and technology, as reflected in the Fotogeografica and Sursa exhibitions.
"In a world increasingly weighed down and full of uncertainty, Fotogeografica remains a constant cultural presence and a lasting testament through its enduring value. The honour it bestows upon the Romanian Geographical Society on its 150th anniversary, by dedicating a special edition, is one that encompasses both gratitude and significance," said President of the Romanian Geographical Society, Professor Corneliu Iatu, PhD.
The exhibition is open for public viewing from 15 October to 15 November and brings together over 1,800 photographs submitted by 275 participants from across the country.
The project is organised by the Bucharest Students' Cultural Centre, under the auspices of the Ministry of Labour, Family, Youth and Social Solidarity.
According to the organisers, Fotogeografica is one of the longest-running and most popular cultural events in the country, promoting the values of Romania's natural and cultural heritage. Romania boasts spectacular nature, a rich cultural legacy, and remarkable biodiversity - but all of these need voices to make them seen. In a sea of digital imagery, Fotogeografica remains one of the few platforms that seeks meaning, not just aesthetics, the press release emphasises.
