Four Romanian swimmers qualifiy for semi-finals at World Junior Swimming Championships in Otopeni

Four Romanian swimmers qualified for the semi-finals of their respective events on Tuesday, the opening day of the World Junior Swimming Championships in Otopeni: Tudor Andrei Iordache, Darius-Stefan Coman, Aissia Claudia Prisecariu and Daria Mariuca Silisteanu.

In the men's 100m backstroke, Tudor Iordache recorded the fifth-fastest time in the heats (54.83 seconds), earning a place in the semi-finals.

In the men's 100m breaststroke, Darius-Stefan Coman achieved the 13th-fastest time in the heats (1:01.52), securing qualification for the semi-finals. Danis Volontir finished 18th (1:02.06), making him the second reserve for the semi-finals.

Prisecariu and Silisteanu both advanced to the semi-finals in the women's 100m backstroke, with Aissia Prisecariu clocking the sixth-fastest time (1:00.94) and Daria Silisteanu the 11th (1:01.08).

In the men's 400m freestyle, Andrei Proca placed 16th in the heats (3:54.37).

In the women's 50m breaststroke, Daria Asaftei posted the 20th-fastest time in the heats (32.38 seconds), while Tamara Lospa finished 31st (33.24 seconds).

Ana-Maria Sibiseanu achieved the 14th-fastest time in the women's 400m individual medley heats (4:52.33), but did not qualify for the final.

The World Junior Swimming Championships are being held in Otopeni from 19 to 24 August, with 930 athletes from 124 countries participating. Romania has entered 18 athletes, a record number for this type of competition.
