Major Laurentiu Cazan, the one who coordinated the gendarmes action at the 10 August rally in Victoriei Square told on Thursday the public TV broadcaster TVR 1, that he has nothing to blame himself for from the tactical and organizational point of view, specifying that the gendarmes intervention at the rally was taken at "the opportune moment".
"I'm a 12-year military career, I'm a deputy with the general director for public order in Bucharest. In the last year, all the high risk missions, no matter their kind, were coordinated and led by me," he told TVR 1.
Cazan specified that at the Victoriei Sq. rally of 10 August the measures taken were a reaction to the increasing violence upon the order forces on behalf of some protesters.
"The kick-off point was the one when we witnessed violence against the Police and Gendarmerie intervention teams," Laurentiu Cazan stressed.
As for the gendarmes' intervention in Victoriei Sq., Major Laurentiu Cazan said it was opportune.
Major Laurentiu Cazan said that the long of the 10 August rally, he interacted directly with a military prosecutor who was there, on the spot.
"Beginning with 17:00 hrs., a military prosecutor was introduced to me. I interacted with him directly, on the spot," Laurentiu Cazan told TVR 1.
Cazan added that when things began to degenerate in Victoriei Sq., he spoke directly with the units' commanders in front of the gov't, the talks being attended by the respective prosecutor.
Moreover, he specified that the long of the action in Victoriei Sq., he was in permanent contact with all of the public authorities.
