Bucharest General Mayor Gabriela Firea met on Tuesday at the seat of the City Hall with the Deputy Prime Minister of the republic of Moldova's Government, Iurie Leanca, with whom she discussed about the projects that Bucharest and Chisinau are due to develop in the upcoming period.

"Given the discussions carried out at the beginning of this month in Chisinau, when we established the priority investment objectives for Moldova's Capital that Bucharest can back, a delegation made up of experts of the Municipality in infrastructure and urbanism will travel in the upcoming period to the Capital of the Republic of Moldova for a precise assessment of the costs necessary for the implementation of these projects. More specifically, we are talking about the rehabilitation of a maternity and two high schools: 'Mihai Eminescu' and 'Gheorghe Asachi', which also need to be rehabilitated and consolidated. I will also propose to district mayors to contribute to the refurbishment of some schools in Chisinau, so that the collaboration between our cities become palpable as soon as possible, one of the priority areas being education," Gabriela Firea stated according to a press release sent to AGERPRES on Wednesday.

In his turn, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova's Government thanked the General Mayor for the support offered and voiced his desire to bring to the Village Museum in Bucharest a Bessarabian house, to be shown to the public, requesting in this regard that Bucharest's Municipality carry out the necessary demarches for allocating a plot of land, given that currently, there is no display space within the museum, PMB informs.

"Facilitating the access of Moldovan citizens to the labour market represents another issue to consider, the hiring procedures currently being rather cumbersome. We ask you to make lobby for a bilateral agreement between Romania and the Republic of Moldova, such that Moldovans can more easily get jobs in Romanian companies," the Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister said as quoted in the release.

The General Mayor gave assurances that she will talk to the decision makers in the Government so that Chisinau's projects benefit from support both at central and local level.

The Moldovan official was accompanied by the Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova in Bucharest, Mihai Gribincea.
