Symphony No. 1 "Consolations" composed by Korean composer Shin Kim, winner of the Composition Section of the Enescu Competition in 2022, will have its world premiere in Bucharest during the opening concert of the 19th edition of the George Enescu International Competition, conducted by Delyana Lazarova.
The event will take place on Saturday, 31 August, at the Romanian Athenaeum, in the opening of the evening programme, informs Artexim, in a press release sent to AGERPRES on Thursday.
In his works, Shin Kim distinguishes three major themes: religion, narrative and psychological phenomena, paying great attention to making classical-contemporary symphonic music accessible to the widest possible audience.
"'Consolations,' the Korean composer's first symphony, is a deeply emotional journey, reflecting the dark and difficult realities of human life, but also the light of hope and consolation that come despite these obstacles. With five distinct movements, the symphony explores the full spectrum of human life, from pain and suffering to hope and inner peace, 'Hymnus Caelestis,' the last movement, concluding the symphony with a heavenly hymn, bringing light and tranquility to this musical journey," Artexim adds.
The programme also includes the Triple Concert for violin, cello, piano and orchestra by Paul Constantinescu performed by Maria Marica (violin), Benjamin Kruithof (cello) and Alexandra Segal (piano), winners of the 18th George Enescu International Competition, accompanied by the National Radio Orchestra, conducted by Delyana Lazarova (Bulgaria).
The 19th edition of the George Enescu International Competition, an event held under the High Patronage of the president of Romania and financed by the Romanian Government through the Ministry of Culture, will take place between 31 ust and 27 September in Bucharest. A
