George Enescu International Musicology Symposium to unfold September 22 in Bucharest

The 21st edition of the George Enescu International Musicology Symposium, a scientific meeting founded by the Union of Romania's Composers and Musicologists (UCMR) in 1967 as an integral part of the George Enescu International Competitive Festival, will take place on September 22, told Agerpres.

The current edition, coordinated by Nicolae Gheorghita, is organised by UCMR in partnership with the George Enescu National Museum and the Bucharest National University of Music (UNMB) with support from ARTEXIM will be hosted by the Auditorium Hall of UNMB.

The symposium offers the opportunity to learn about various and valuable studies dedicated to Enescu's creation delivered in two sections moderated by Olguta Lupu and university professor Mihai Cosma.

In the first part of the meeting, delivering speeches in the French and English section will be Cristina Suteu (Gh. Dima National Academy of Music, Cluj-Napoca), Corneliu Dan Georgescu (Germany), Vlad Vaidean (National University of Music in Bucharest), Andreea Ciornenchi Grigoras, Cezar Bogdan Grigoras (Tunisia, Higher Institute of Music of Sfax), Anca Georgiana Simion (Babes- Bolyai University), Oana Kariotoglou (UK, University of Leeds), Olguta Lupu (National University of Music in Bucharest).

The second part of the event is a section of lectures in Romanian given by Daniel Milencovici (Vest University of Timisoara), Georgiana Maria (National University of Music in Bucharest), Grosz Sara Aksza (Gh. Dima National Academy of Music, Cluj-Napoca), Irina Nitu (George Enescu National Museum), Carmen Popa, Petruta-Maria Maniut Coroiu (Transilvania University of Brasov), Marin Marian-Balasa, Iulia Cibisescu-Duran (Gh. Dima National Academy of Music, Cluj-Napoca), Camelia Anca Sarbu (George Enescu National Museum), Lucian Rosca (Vest University of Timisoara), Constantin Tufan-Stan (University of Oradea).

The 19 invited musicologists will provide incursions into Enescu's aesthetics, analyses of works by the great Romanian composer, as well as influences of his music in the creation of other composers, continuing an important tradition of the Union of Romania's Composers and and Romanian cultural life.
