The Chamber of Deputies adopted on Monday the draft law empowering the Government to issue ordinances during the parliamentary recess, with 170 votes in favor, 60 votes against and two abstentions.

The draft law establishes the following regulatory areas for which the Government should be empowered to issue ordinances during the parliamentary recess: finance and economy; development, public works and administration; home affairs; work and social solidarity; health: transport and infrastructure; European investments and projects; culture; sport; prorogation or modification of certain deadlines stipulated in pieces of legislation with the force of law.

Representatives of the opposition - USR (Save Romania Union), AUR (Alliance for the Union of Romanians) and Forta Dreptei (Force of the Right) criticized the project, saying they voted against it. USR MP Cristina Pruna argued, among other things, that fiscal changes must be made six months before they take effect, otherwise they will lead to fiscal instability.

The Chamber of Deputies is the decision-making body.
