The Greater Romania Party (PRM) enters the race for the European Parliament with 43 candidates, with Dorel Onaca, PRM executive president, and Victor Iovici, president of the party, opening the list of candidates filed with the Central Electoral Bureau.
Dorel Onaca is a Doctor of Law, a member of the Bucharest Bar Association and a university lecturer. In the past he was the first vice-president of PRM, when Corneliu Vadim Tudor was the party's president. He was Romania's representative on the board of the European Maritime Safety Agency.
Second on the list is the party's president, Victor Iovici. Iovici's political career began in the 1990s, when he joined the Greater Romania Party. He held several positions in the party, including vice-president and secretary general. In 2017, he was elected president of PRM, replacing former leader Corneliu Vadim Tudor. Victor Teodor Iovici was also deputy mayor of Bucharest.
The PRM list for the European Parliament elections also includes former MP Claudiu Tanasescu and former MEP Claudiu Ciprian Tanasescu.
PRM is sending jurists, entrepreneurs, lawyers, doctors, writers, architects and 10 pensioners to the EP race. Thirteen women are running for a seat in the European Parliament on behalf of PRM.
The Greater Romania Party is in 8th position on the ballot paper.
Citizens aged 18 and over, including those turning 18 on election day, will elect their 33 representatives to the European Parliament on 9 June.
