Ilie Dragne, manager of Salcia farm in Teleorman County, was detained, on Thursday, for 30 days, by prosecutors with the Prosecutor's Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice (PICCJ) in the case investigating tax evasion offenses that have supposedly incurred damages to the state budget of over 39 million lei.
Dragne was heard on Thursday at Police Precinct 1, following the Thursday morning searches at the pig farm in Salcia, Teleorman County. The Supreme Court's Prosecutor's Office announced Thursday morning that police officers from Bucharest and eight counties are conducting searches at 80 locations - residences and headquarters of construction, facility management, waste processing and swine breeding companies - in a tax evasion case with damages worth over nine million euro.
Prosecutors have determined that in the accounts of 12 commercial companies operating in the fields of construction, facility management, waste processing and swine breeding in the 2010-2016 period, in order to avoid the payment of taxes and duties due to the state budget, fake expenditures were entered in their accounting records, which caused the state budget to incur pecuniary losses amounting to 39,873,671 lei (the equivalent of 9,079,017 euro), of which 15,815,202 lei in lesser profit tax and 24,058,469 lei in illegal VAT deductions.
